Fils de Joseph Maymeran, il fut nagid (chef) de la juiverie marocaine et agent des chérifs à la cour de Moulay Ismaïl (1672–1727) à Meknès ; il compta parmi les Juifs fortunés qui firent bâtir de riches demeures dans le mellah de Meknès et contribua à la diplomatie du sultan.
