Rabbin séfarade-mizrahi né à Bagdad, élève d'Abdallah Somekh et du Ben Ish Hai (Yosef Hayyim). Il s'installe à Jérusalem (v. 1904), étudie à la yeshiva kabbalistique Beit El puis compose ses ouvrages à la yeshiva Shoshanim leDavid. Son œuvre reflète les traditions propres au judaïsme irakien.
