Saadia Gaon

Gaon of Soura, first great Jewish philosopher. His Book of Beliefs and Opinions (Emounot ve-Deot) founded rational Jewish philosophy. He translated the Bible into Arabic (Tafsir) and fought Karaism. Major intellectual figure of medieval Judaism.
