Chimiste (PhD MIT, 1956), entrepreneur et philanthrope de Boston. Il a reconstitué la généalogie de la famille juive Obermayer jusqu'à son aïeul Isaak Obermayer, né dans le faubourg de Kriegshaber (Augsbourg) et mort en 1836, et a fondé en 2000 les Obermayer German Jewish History Awards.
