Bombing attack on the Jewish community center
27-28 sept. 2012·Malmö
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The Malmö community center houses the synagogue, school, and offices of an ancient community, formed in part by Holocaust survivors welcomed by Sweden at the end of the war. An explosive charge is placed against the building, blowing out its façade and windows.
The attack is the culmination of a series of assaults, insults, and acts of vandalism that had made Malmö a case study across Europe: several families had already left the city for Stockholm or Israel, and the community lived under permanent police protection. Swedish authorities and European institutions made this city the example of an urban antisemitism that ordinary policing could no longer contain.
