The deadliest of the three centers of Operation Reinhard, where Jews from Warsaw and the entire district are brought.
Treblinka, to the northeast of Varsovie, is the third and most deadly of the centers of Opération Reinhard. Opened in the heart of summer on a railway branch line, it was designed to receive convoys from the district of Varsovie and central Pologne.
A false railway station was set up there, complete with ticket windows, a painted clock, and connection signs, so that those arriving would not understand where they were. On August 2 of the following year, the detainees of the work kommando rose up, set fire to part of the buildings, and escaped; the camp was subsequently dismantled and the grounds transformed into a farm.
