Domanivka is one of the assembly points of Romanian Transnistria, on the road running along the Bug. The deportees from Bessarabia and Bukovina, as well as the Jews of Odessa driven from the city, were marched there on foot.
There were neither barracks nor supplies: the arrivals crowded into the stables and abandoned houses of the town. Hunger, the cold of winter, and typhus accounted for the greatest number of victims, to which were added the shootings carried out by gendarmes and by German units on the opposite bank.
