A town in Little Poland whose ghetto was emptied in summer, the population taken to Bełżec.
Dąbrowa Tarnowska, between Tarnów and the Vistula, had a majority community in the town, organized around a remarkable wooden synagogue and a Hasidic court. The occupier established a closed quarter there that received Jews from the surrounding villages. In the summer, the town was emptied: the inhabitants were gathered in the market square, some were shot on the spot, the rest taken to the Szczucin train station and from there to Bełżec. Groups hid in the surrounding farms and forests; many were denounced during the winter. Jewish life in Dąbrowa Tarnowska did not resume after the war.
