The Jews of the town are shot on Fedor hill in successive waves, until spring 1943.
Buczacz, in eastern Galicia, is the birthplace of Shmuel Yosef Agnon and Simon Wiesenthal. Its Jewish population was decimated not by a single action but by a succession of roundups spread over more than a year.
The executions took place on the hill of Fedor, which overlooks the city, where the inhabitants were led in groups, and continued until the following spring. This fragmentation allowed a few to hide in the farms and forests of the surrounding area between roundups.
