Installed in a former castle above the Bug, the camp receives deportees from Bessarabia, Bukovina and the towns of Podolia; without food or medical care, they die of hunger, cold and typhus, and the detainees call it the loop of death.
Pechera, on the Bug, is the camp that the deportees of Transnistria called the loop of death. Established on a former estate, with no heating, no medical care, and almost no food, it receives convoys of Jews from Bessarabia, Bukovina, and Podolia. The detainees die there of hunger, cold, and typhus; others are taken across the river to be shot. The camp remains open until the withdrawal of the Romanian troops.
