Borough of northern Bessarabia transformed into a gathering place, Floresti sees convoys from the countryside crammed in, where hunger and arbitrary executions reduce the columns before crossing the river.
Floresti, a market town in northern Bessarabia, whose community lived from the grain trade and maintained its synagogue at the center of town, saw its Jews rounded up in the very first days, stripped of their belongings and locked up before being directed toward the province's transit camps. Those who fell along the way were shot by their escorts.
