The Jews of Derventa lose their possessions to the commissioners of the Ustaše regime, then are arrested and sent to places of internment.
Derventa, in northern Bosnia near the Sava, was home to a Jewish community of merchants and artisans established since the Austro-Hungarian era. The Ustaše regime stripped it bare from its very first decrees: businesses were handed over to appointed commissioners, accounts were frozen, families were marked and stripped of their civil rights. Arrests were carried out in several waves during the summer and autumn by the regime's militia. The Jewish inhabitants of Derventa were led to the open camps across the river in Slavonia, where most of them perished. The town never again had a Jewish community.
