The community of Brčko, on the Sava, is despoiled then rounded up by Ustaše authorities and directed towards the camps of the new State.

Brčko, a port on the Sava river on the borders of Bosnia and Syrmia, had a prosperous Jewish community active in river trade and the grain business. The racial decrees of the Ustasha regime struck it from the very proclamation of the new State: loss of nationality, seizure of businesses, compulsory identifying marks, exclusion from trades. Raids carried out by the militia followed one after another throughout the summer and autumn. The Jewish families of Brčko were led to camps opened downstream on the same bank, where nearly all were murdered. The community did not reconstitute itself after the war.
