The Jews of the Baden region are rounded up in two days and deported to the Gurs camp in southwestern France.
On the twenty-second and twenty-third days of October, the Jews of the Baden region were rounded up over two days and deported to the camp of Gurs, in south-western France.
The operation, conducted by Gauleiter Wagner and Bürckel on their own initiative, deported German citizens to a third country without Vichy having been informed. The trains were accepted for lack of any means to refuse them. Many of these deportees would die at Gurs from the conditions of the camp; the survivors would be handed over to the Germans two years later and sent to Auschwitz.
