Pogrom
juin 1936·Mińsk Mazowiecki
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
the Jewish population driven from the city over several days, houses set on fire
In the month of June, the Jewish population of Mińsk Mazowiecki is driven from the town for several days and houses are set on fire.
The episode is one of the most serious in the Polish series: this is not a ransacking of shops but a de facto expulsion, the community being forced to flee and permitted to return only after the intervention of the authorities. The government will condemn the violence while maintaining its policy of forced emigration, which it is then negotiating with the colonial powers.
