The Oranienburg camp, opened in a disused brewery north of Berlin, is one of the very first internment sites of the regime. It is run by the brown-shirted formations, who confine within it the capital's political opponents and the city's prominent Jews. The violence there is immediate and public; the camp will be closed after two years, replaced by a larger facility in the same region.
