the Jewish inhabitants stripped, beaten, several killed

Nova Ouchytsia, the chief town of a district in Podolia, was home to an ancient Jewish community. During the civil war, its inhabitants were stripped of their possessions by the armed bands roaming the region, beaten during searches, and several were killed. The testimonies gathered afterward describe inhabitants forced to flee into the fields at the approach of horsemen, returning to find their homes open and empty.
