October Manifesto Pogrom in Crimea
octobre 1905·Simferopol
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
Jewish houses and shops looted
In Crimea, Jewish homes and shops are looted in Simferopol during the same wave.
The peninsula is home to two populations that the Russian administration distinguishes: the Rabbanite Jews, subject to the Pale of Settlement, and the Karaites, who were exempted from it and enjoy common rights. The wave strikes the former. This separation of status, obtained in the previous century, would have grave consequences: it would serve once again as a criterion under the German occupation.
