the wave reaches Denmark, Jewish shops ransacked for several nights

In the month of September, the wave reached Denmark: Jewish shops were ransacked in Copenhague over the course of several nights.

Denmark had granted citizenship to its Jews a few years earlier, by a royal decree that stood as a model in Northern Europe. That the riots arrived there nonetheless, through simple contagion from Germany, shows that such movements spread through the press and with travelers, independently of local circumstances. The king would have his protection proclaimed, and the Danish community would know no other episode of this kind.
