The community of Tchernihiv was destroyed in northern Ukraine.
The city was part, along with Starodoub and Nizhyn, of the northernmost Jewish settlements in what was then Poland; they were wiped out by the uprising and never recovered, the region having passed under a sovereignty that forbade Jews from residing there.
