The trial of the Carvajal family concluded in Mexico City: nine members of the family were burned as Judaizers.
The head of the family was governor of the New Kingdom of León, and his nephew left behind, written in prison, memoirs and letters that are one of the rare direct testimonies a crypto-Jew left of his faith. The tribunal made the trial a public demonstration, and the affair remained for a century the example cited throughout New Spain.
