The Spanish Inquisition was extended to Sicily, and the first autos-da-fé were held there in Palermo.
The island came under the Crown of Aragon, and whatever was decided in Seville or Zaragoza was applied there as well; the following year, the Edict of Expulsion of the Jews of Spain would be published there too, and the greatest Jewish community in Italy, that of the Sicilian cities, would disappear all at once.
