the destroyed community

The community of Lindau, on the island in Lake Constance, was destroyed during the Black Death.

It is numbered among the lakeside communities annihilated in the months that followed the trials in which the accusation of poisoning was fabricated.

The community, settled in the island town, extended credit to the boatmen and merchants who passed through on their way to the Grisons; it perished with the wave and was not reconstituted during the Middle Ages.
