The community of Fulda was destroyed during the Black Death, more than a century after the massacre that had followed the accusation of ritual murder brought against it.

It was in Fulda that one of the first major cases of this kind in Germany had arisen in the thirteenth century: Emperor Frederick II had ordered the accusation examined by an assembly of converts and had declared it without foundation. This had not prevented the massacre, and did not prevent it this time either.
