In Fribourg-en-Brisgau, the community was burned. The city records preserve the pledge taken by the council never again to admit Jews.

The Brisgau and neighboring Alsace were among the regions most severely struck, because they lay along the route taken by the Chillon confessions. One can trace the spread of the disaster by following the Rhine upstream from Lake Geneva: the chronology of the massacres mirrors that of the circulation of the trial records, not that of the epidemic.
