A ritual murder accusation spread through the Rhine valley and the community of Bonn was attacked. That same year, the same rumor produced in Troyes a trial that sent thirteen people to the stake.

The Rhenish communities had barely finished reconstituting themselves after the massacres of the Crusades when the blood accusation, imported from England and spread through preaching, opened a second cycle. Bonn, seat of a renowned school, had given Ashkenazi Memory one of its chroniclers, Ephraïm de Bonn, who had precisely recorded the persecutions of the preceding century.
