Description

Tray used in the henna ceremony preceding the wedding, on which the paste, candles and sweets are arranged. Decorated with fish, stars and hamsas, it carried symbols of fertility and protection. In the Maghreb, applying henna to the hands of the couple was a festive rite shared by Jewish families and their neighbours.
