Enrich the Great Bookשמלת כלה בחוטי זהב, יהודי אלג'יריה
Description
Grand wedding costume of Maghrebi Jewish women, of dark velvet embroidered with gold thread, comprising a galloon-trimmed plastron, skirt and bolero. Inherited from Hispano-Moorish fashion, it was worn at the so-called "henna" or "berberisca" ceremony. Passed from mother to daughter, it formed, with the jewellery, the heart of the bride's trousseau.
