Description
Marriage contract whose ornamental border is printed by copperplate engraving, the text being calligraphed in the central reserve. Amsterdam's Hebrew printers spread these reusable frames with columns, allegories and Baroque putti. An economical yet elegant solution, the technique spread to other Western Sephardi communities.
