Description

Large silver or glass goblet placed at the center of the Passover Seder table, filled with wine but not drunk. The door is opened to symbolically welcome the prophet Elijah.

Significance

It expresses the messianic hope tied to the night of Passover and the coming of Elijah heralding redemption.
