Glass and Bronze Eternal Lamp (Ner Tamid) from Italy
Enrich the Great Bookנר תמיד מזכוכית וברונזה מאיטליה
Description
Hanging lamp burning permanently before the holy ark. Italian, and especially Venetian, workshops made these of colored-glass cups set in a pierced bronze mount, hung by three chains from a rosette. The glass, sometimes Murano-blown, shields the flame and casts a colored glow, in the baroque taste of the peninsula's synagogues.
