Brass Eternal Lamp (Ner Tamid) from Germany
Enrich the Great Bookנר תמיד מפליז מגרמניה
Description
In more modest Ashkenazi synagogues, the eternal lamp was often made of cast brass rather than silver. Suspended by chains from a crown or pierced canopy, it holds an oil lamp or floating wick. Plain and durable, it could take the form of a many-pointed star or a cup surrounded by hanging drops.
