Description
The tzedakah box collects gifts for the poor, for study or for the Land of Israel. In Eastern Europe these metal boxes, fixed in the synagogue or kept at home, often bear the name of the cause — "Rabbi Meir Baal ha-Nes," funds for Jerusalem — and structure the life of charity.
