Description
Knotted rug used in some Eastern Jewish communities for sitting or standing during prayer, especially on the floor of oriental-style synagogues. Persian Jewish examples adopt regional knotting techniques but may include distinctive motifs such as a menorah, a six-pointed star or a Hebrew inscription in the central field.
