Description
Scalloped valance hung above the ark curtain in Czech synagogues. Its descending lappets, finished with fringe and gold tassels, are embroidered with the two Temple columns, the menorah or crowns, together with a dedication. Made to match the parokhet, it conceals the curtain's suspension mechanism and visually crowns the ark.
