Description
Wooden noisemaker with two small hammers mounted on springs or pivots that strike a sounding box when shaken. Shaped by village craftsmen, it produced a loud din to blot out Haman's name. A variant of the toothed-wheel ra'ashan, this playful model especially amused children at Purim.
