Description

Hanging or rocking cradle to which amulets and verses were sometimes tied to protect the infant. In the Eastern European tradition, rocking an empty cradle was avoided as a bad omen. The wood bore simple carved motifs; some families hung a kimpet sheet or a hamsa from it.
