Illustrated Sephardic kabbalistic manuscript (tree of the sefirot)

Enrich the Great Book

אילן הספירות

Description

This illustrated manuscript depicts the tree of the sefirot, the central schema of Kabbalah that represents the ten emanations or attributes (sefirot) through which, according to Jewish mysticism, the divine infinite manifests and acts in the world. Arranged in a diagram connecting the sefirot by channels, these representations served as a support for meditation and esoteric study. Sephardic and Oriental versions deploy these diagrams in scrolls or plates richly annotated with divine names and symbolic correspondences. An object of the Kabbalistic tradition, it bears witness to the diffusion of Jewish mysticism, particularly following the rise of Lurianic Kabbalah from Safed.
