Description
White ceremonial garment worn by the couple in the Ashkenazi tradition, a symbol of purity and a reminder of the shroud, linked to the fast on the wedding day. On the bride's side it sometimes took the form of an embroidered cape or veil. Kept afterwards, it could serve again on Yom Kippur, joining the rites of marriage and penitence.
