Cup of Elijah in silver decorated with niello, the black-inlay technique practiced by the silversmiths of the Caucasus and the Mountain Jews. The geometric and floral decoration sometimes frames a Hebrew inscription. Set at the center of the Seder table, it marked the awaiting of the prophet's coming at Passover.
