Description
Amulet protecting the new mother and infant against Lilith, blamed for threatening newborns. The text invokes the angels Sanvi, Sansanvi and Semangelof and bears the names of Adam and Eve; some examples depict Lilith in chains. Hung above the cradle or on the birth-chamber wall, it remained in place until the end of the period deemed dangerous.
