Description
Ashkenazi marriage contract, more sober than the Mediterranean models: architectural frames, sometimes zodiac signs or the figures of Moses and Aaron. German ketubot are often calligraphed without lavish pictorial display, the emphasis being on the legal legibility of the text. Some bear family coats of arms or monograms.
