Description
Long linen band girding the Torah scroll, made from the swaddling cloth used at the boy's circumcision, cut into strips and sewn end to end. Silk embroidery, favored over painting in Bavaria, inscribes in large ornamented letters the child's name, birth date and the blessing for Torah, marriage and good deeds, illustrated with a wedding canopy.
