Description
Rigid case of filigree silver protecting a tefillin box, sometimes fitted with a hinged lid. The mesh of twisted wires, occasionally gilded, follows the Ottoman taste for filigree. A dress piece of Sephardic families, combining protective function with refined silverwork.
