Wood-and-silver Torah case (Tik) from Baghdad
תיק תורה מעץ וכסף מבגדאד
Description
In Eastern communities the scroll is kept upright in a tik, a rigid cylindrical case that opens in two halves and stands during the reading. Baghdadi examples are of wood sheathed in repoussé silver plates and topped with rimonim.
