German silver Omer counting plaque

Silver tablet fitted with dials or numbered shutters to display the current day of the Omer count. The repoussé frame carries scrollwork, columns and the counting blessing. A prestige piece of well-off Ashkenazi homes, it replaced with a precious object the wooden or paper models of the same period.
