Description
Scroll of Esther on parchment whose text columns are framed by painted scenes: the court of Ahasuerus, the banquet, the hanging of Haman, the triumph of Mordecai. The arches, putti and floral borders reflect German baroque art. A prestige piece of well-off families, it joined liturgical reading with the pleasure of imagery.
