Description
Panel of cloth forming the canopy or backdrop of the huppah, painted or embroidered with nuptial verses and floral motifs. In Italy such hangings could echo the decoration of parokhot and liturgical covers, sometimes bearing family arms. They lent solemnity to the rite while displaying the refined taste of the donors.
