Description

Matzah cover of purple or green velvet, embroidered in gold and silver thread with bullion stitch. The central design spreads a star, a vase of flowers or a Pesach inscription, framed with scrollwork. Made by Sephardi embroideresses of Istanbul and Salonika, it protected and honored the unleavened breads on the Seder table.
