Description
Small container preserving the first lock of hair cut at a young boy's first haircut (halaqa), sometimes held at Lag ba-Omer or at a saint's shrine. In the Maghreb milk teeth were also kept in it as a protective custom. Decorated with filigree or hamsas, the object belonged to the rites of passage of early childhood.
